About Me

My photo
Welcome to the online blog for traveler/writer/photographer Steven Barber. Come in. Relax. Take off your shoes and socks -- or any other article of clothing, this is the internet. Have a look around. I hope to intrigue, amuse, entertain, and maybe provoke you just a little. I love to find adventure. All I need is a change of clothes, my Nikon, an open mind and a strong cup of coffee.

LOS ANGELES, CA - BACKSTAGE

Backstage on the Paramount Pictures lot.

You may recognize that sky-like backdrop from quite a few films taking place on the high seas. There is a lower section of the parking area here that can be sectioned off and filled in with water, creating a quite convincing "high seas" set right in the middle of Hollywood.

Although there are handful of smaller studios in the are, Paramount is the only "major" to have a studio in Hollywood itself. The others are elsewhere in the LA metro area. (21st Century Fox is in West LA, Sony and Columbia are in Culver City, while Warner Brothers and Disney are in The Valley.)

It was a cloudy day during this visit, greatly enhancing the effect of the "sea wall".
