When I was a boy in 3rd and 4th grade I used to (illegally) climb through the tall wrought-iron gate of this watchtower located in Miantonomi Memorial Park in Newport, Rhode Island, climbing to the top to show I wasn't afraid -- and for the unique view of Aquidneck Island the top of the tower afforded.
Don't tell my mother. Even 45 years later she would be appalled.
