I was out shooting early one morning a year or so ago and noticed a bizarre strip of cloud running in what looked like a vertical direction versus the far more familiar horizontal. I kind of wondered if it was a plane's contrail, and that it was simply a trick of the eye.
As it moved across the full Moon's face I took a few shots in silhouette, hoping to later figure out what it was I was seeing. Once I got home and enhanced the image, it was clear I'd seen and shot a funnel cloud over Los Angeles in the wee morning hours.
