About Me

My photo
Welcome to the online blog for traveler/writer/photographer Steven Barber. Come in. Relax. Take off your shoes and socks -- or any other article of clothing, this is the internet. Have a look around. I hope to intrigue, amuse, entertain, and maybe provoke you just a little. I love to find adventure. All I need is a change of clothes, my Nikon, an open mind and a strong cup of coffee.

HISTORIC TOWNS - GOURDON, MARITIME ALPS, FRANCE

The hilltop town of Gourdon, sits like an eagles aerie in the Maritime Alps just inland of France's famed Riviera town of Cannes. It's a wonderful little ancient village perched, almost precariously, atop a mountain, providing for a spectacular drive-up as well as tremendous views once you've arrived.

The shopping is excellent, with local shops and artisans, and the tour of the castle is a glimpse into Europe's medieval past. I strongly recommend stopping for a time to wander the streets, savor the food, sample a little of the local wine, and enjoy the inspiring view from your bistro table.
