Welcome to the online blog for traveler/writer/photographer Steven Barber. Come in. Relax. Take off your shoes and socks -- or any other article of clothing, this is the internet. Have a look around. I hope to intrigue, amuse, entertain, and maybe provoke you just a little. I love to find adventure. All I need is a change of clothes, my Nikon, an open mind and a strong cup of coffee.

WE CAN HELP: NAT'S PLACE, ANGUILLA

One of our most wonderful culinary discoveries - ever - was Nat's Place in Palm Grove, island of Anguilla in the Caribbean. Excellent food amidst isolation and beauty.

Resting on the beach on the eastern end of the island, Nat's was casual but delicious food, and one of the most peaceful spots on the planet. A true getaway.

Sadly, word came a month or so ago that Nat's Place had been utterly destroyed by Hurricane Irma.

As part of our "WE CAN HELP" week we want to start with the GoFundMe page for Nat's Place.

Contribute what you can, and add this little heaven to your Life List.

Help the happiness return to Palm Grove Bar & Grill by donating to any one of our pages. #HurricaneIrma

BLOWING POINT, ANGUILLA -- DOCKSIDE

Approaching the Blowing Point port facility on the British West Indies island of Anguilla.

It's a quiet island, having become a retreat for those people who want to get away from it all and yet still live in the lap of luxury. Numerous high-end resorts dot the coast, appealing to the tan, beautiful and book-reading crowd.

Pic of the Day: Finding Paradise

After a twenty minute drive from Anguilla's main town of The Valley, we found ourselves on an remote beach just beyond Nat's Palm Grove, which I have written about previously as the most isolated restaurant I've ever encountered. I don't know if it remains that way.

At the time we found ourselves sharing the beach with  two British expats and no one else.

When I stand in places like this I feel very far from the civilized world, and it's not an unpleasant feeling.

Pic of the Day: Nat's Place

Parking lot at the Palm Grove Restaurant.

End of a long dirt road on what, at the time, was the quiet little island of Anguilla.
