Pic of the Day: The Cozmic Cafe

I love finding cool little downtowns and places to eat, shop and tour. In the town of Placerville, California, is a building which was the home of the Placerville Soda Works -- a structure which is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The building was placed at this particular location to take advantage of an abandoned mine shaft for cool storage, and now houses the Cozmic Cafe, a wonderful little coffee shop with tasty (and healthier) foods all day long.

If you get a chance, wander back into the bowels of the building to see the entire thing, as well as the entrance to the mine shaft. It's really an unexpected adventure. (Just don't get lost...)

Pic of the Day: Malibu Sunset

On a day many, many years ago my wife had a gig at a private party in Malibu, the famous colony of entertainment types just northwest of Los Angeles.

Because of the nature of the gig I would not be able to stay at the party while she played. It happens sometimes, so I brought along my trusty Nikon and went down to the beach for some afternoon and sunset shots. The sunset that evening was stunning, adding some five photographs to my permanent portfolio. This is one.

The Friday Martini

Once again it's Friday. Time for the weekend martini.


This one comes to us from celebrity chef Bobby Flay's BAR AMERICAIN in midtown Manhattan. We stopped by for a cocktail hour meet up with a friend from New York. Very sophisticated.

The loading platform for Space Mountain in Disneyland. As a young boy this was, to me, one of the coolest spots on the planet.

Forty years later I still think it's pretty cool.
