Welcome to the online blog for traveler/writer/photographer Steven Barber. Come in. Relax. Take off your shoes and socks -- or any other article of clothing, this is the internet. Have a look around. I hope to intrigue, amuse, entertain, and maybe provoke you just a little. I love to find adventure. All I need is a change of clothes, my Nikon, an open mind and a strong cup of coffee.

BEACHES - POIPU BEACH, KAUAI

The ocean is one of my favorite places. All this week we'll be visiting some of my favorite coastlines.

Today it's Poipu Beach, where I honeymooned some 30+ years ago. We revisited a couple of years ago.

The buildings across the street have changed but the beach is as enchanting as ever.

POIPU BEACH, KAUI, HAWAII - FISHERMAN ON THE SHORE

Any time you fins a large enough body of water it's likely you will also find someone fishing there.

Off the southeastern coast of the Hawaiian Island of Kauai, stands a lone fisherman with a pair of rods.

Not sure what he was planning to catch, but here's hoping it was good eats.

POIPU BEACH, KAUAI, HAWAII - MEMORIES GROWN UP

Three decades ago my wife and I honeymooned on Poipu Beach, southeastern corner of the island of Kauai. Not long after hurricane Iniki had devastated the area. It was a beautiful and somewhat remote area of the Hawaiian Islands. In many ways it still is.

We returned a few years ago to find that Poipu, like so many wonderful and
remote areas of the world, has grown up.
